WHAT DOES IT TREAT?

PANZOL- 40 is used to treat:

  • Gastro esophageal reflux disease(GERD)
  • Increased stomach acid
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
  • Inflammation of the esophagus
  • Erosion of the esophagus
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Duodenum ulcer
  • Inflammation of stomach lining
  • Bleeding from stomach, esophagus or duodenum
  • Heartburn

MODE OF ACTION

PANZOL- 40 is pantoprazole which is a proton inhibitor that suppresses the concluding step in the production of gastric acid by binding to the concerned enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell.

HOW TO USE?

PANZOL- 40 is taken by mouth, with or without food. Swallow the whole tablets without crushing or chewing.

POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS

The common side-effects are Excessive tiredness, Fever, Headache and Joint pain

The serious side-effects are

  • Osteoporosis
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Muscle spasms
  • Seizures
  • Gastrointestinal infections
  • bloody or black stools
  • jaundice

CHECK IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC

PANZOL- 40 is not recommended for those who are allergic to pantoprazole, or similar medications such as albendazole (Albenza), mebendazole (Vermox), lansoprazole(Prevaid), esomeprazole(nexium), omeprazole(PrilosecZegerid), or rabeprazole(AcipHex).


An allergic reaction to PANZOL- 40 can cause :

  • Peeling of the skin
  • Breathing problems
  • Swelling of the face/feet/hands
  • Rashes/hives

KEEP IN MIND

Do not use PANZOL- 40 for immediate relief from heartburn indications.
Inform your health care provider if you are suffering from brittle bones or low magnesium levels in your blood.
Do not breast- feed while using this drug as the components can pass through breast milk.
This medication is not known to harm an unborn baby, but ensure the safety of your foetus by reporting to your doctor about your pregnancy.
Consumption of larger quantities of PANZOL- 40 over a lengthier period can cause deficiency of vitamin B12 in the body.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Do not use PANZOL- 40 with HIV drugs like atazanavir, nelfinavir and Anticoagulants like warfarin.
PANZOL- 40 reduces absorption of drugs that are sensitive to the effects of decreased stomach acids. Some examples of such drugs are ketoconazole, ampicillin, atazanavir, iron salts, erlotinib and mycophenolate mofetil.
This drug increases blood levels of methotrexate.
This medication may interfere with certain medical tests like urine test for THC, causing fake test results

DID YOU MISS IT?

If you miss a dose, make sure to take it as soon as you remember. It should not be a problem if you skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule also. Do not increase the dose to catch up.
