WHAT DOES IT TREAT?

ORPRESS-AM are extended release tablets that treat hypertension ,angina or severe chest pain and particular categories of heart failure

MODE OF ACTION

ORPRESS- AM contains metroprolol succinate which is a beta- adrenergic blocking agent. It works by reducing the amount of work done by the heart and the amount of blood pumped out, thus, lowering high blood pressure.

This medication contains amlodipine which is an auto hypertensive drug relax. It works by opening the blood vessels, thus, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure.

HOW TO USE?

Always take these tablets with food or immediately after a meal. Follow the same time every day.

Swallow whole tablets. Do not crush or chew. They can be broken into half if required.

POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS

The common side-effects are Constipation/Diarrhoea , Dry mouth/eyes, Headache ,Heart burn/Gas trouble, Muscle aches/Stomach pain, Nausea, Trouble sleeping, Unusual tiredness

The serious side-effects are

  • Rashes/itching
  • Breathing problems
  • Chest pinching or chest pain
  • Swelling of mouth/face/lips/tongue/arms/hands/feet
  • Cold and blue hands /feet
  • Chills or fever
  • Hallucinations and mood swings
  • Irregular heart beat
  • Bleedinga
  • Yellowing of the skin/eyes

CHECK IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC

Do not consume ORPRESS-AM if you are allergic to any of the ingredients constituting this drug or to any other medicine or foods.

These tablets worsen lung problems and adrenal gland tumours.

KEEP IN MIND

Patients suffering from Diabetic Mellitus have to constantly check for low blood sugar. ORPRESS-AM hides its symptoms like faster heart beat, anxiety, chills, drowsiness, headache,fatigue,vision changes and unusual sweating.

The drug should be administered with caution in patients with reduced hepatic function.

Do not use ORPRESS-AM if you are an expectant, planning to conceive or is breast-feeding.

Discontinuing this medication all of a sudden can cause sharp chest pain, irregular heart beat, and sometimes, even a heart attack. Your doctor will help you to gradually lower the dose and stop the treatment when it is time.

Talk to your doctor before taking these extended release tablets if you have been scheduled for a surgery.

It is unsafe to drive when undergoing the treatment through these tablets.

ORPRESS-AM could be taken along with other medicines but not with alcohol.

It is normal for high blood pressure patients to be fatigued with the initial use of the medication.Continue the dosing schedule and you will get better soon.

This medication has not proved to be efficacious in children under six years of age

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Patients treated with ORPRESS-AM plus a catecholamine depleting drug(eg., reserpine, monoamine oxidase inhibitors) may develop hypotension or marked bradycardia, which can lead to vertigo, syncope, or postural hypotension.

The cardio-selectivity of ORPRESS-AM would be decreased with an increase in the plasma concentration of metropolol in drugs that inhibit CYP2D6 such as quinidine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, and propafenone.

Consequent usage of these extended tablets with digitalis, clonidine, and calcium channel blockers cut down atrioventricular conduction and lowers heart rate.

DID YOU MISS IT?

Take your missed dose of ORPRESS-AM if you remember the same day. Else skip that dose and continue the schedule. Doubling is not allowed and skipping of more than one dose should be reported to your doctor.

To be stored at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F. Keep away from light, moisture and heat. Not to be kept at the reach of children and pets
