WHAT DOES IT TREAT?

CLITEL is used in the treatment of hypertension or high blood pressure.

MODE OF ACTION

The calcium channel blocker clinidipine causes action at N- type and L- type calcium channels dilating both arterioles and venules as a result of which the pressure in the capillary bed is reduced. Hence, used for management of hypertension.

Telmisartan bind to the angiotensin receptors with high affinity, inhibiting the action of angiotensin on vascular smooth muscle, resulting in a reduction in arterial blood pressure.

HOW TO USE?

This medication is to be taken by mouth, once daily, preferably after food.

POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS

The common side-effects are Dizziness , Diarrhea , Back pain, Sinus pain,Fainting

The serious side-effects are

  • Swelling of the mouth/limbs
  • Change in the amount of urine
  • Excessive sweating
  • Muscle cramps
  • Shortness of breath
  • Slurred speech
  • Vision problems
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Unusual weight gain

CHECK IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC

Do not use CLITEL if you have the following conditions:

  • Acute unstable angina
  • Liver disease
  • Bile duct blockage
  • Hyperkalemia
  • Dehydration

To be on the safer side, inform your doctor about your medical history and symptoms of allergic reactions, if any.

KEEP IN MIND

  • Rise up slowly from a sitting or lying posture, especially in the morning, in order to reduce the dizzy feeling.
  • Stop using CLITEL if you develop an ischemic pain.
  • Do not discontinue the drug abruptly. Your doctor would reduce the dose and gradually help you stop the treatment.
  • Avoid driving since this medication can make you dizzy.
  • Alcohol intake ought to be limited.
  • Do not use CLITEL if you are pregnant.
  • It is not known if the components of the drug pass through breast milk. Make sure to ask your doctor if it is safe to breast feed while consuming CLITEL.
  • You need to report the usage of this medication to your dentist before taking a treatment or surgery.
  • The safety and effectiveness of CLITEL has not been confirmed in children.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

CLITEL might interact wrongly with the following medicines:

  • Aldesleukin
  • Antipsychotic drugs
  • Erythromycin
  • Other antihypertensive drugs
  • Phenytoin
  • Quinidine
  • Aliskiren
  • Lithium
  • Ramipril

Co-administering of the drug with red yeast rice products results in serious muscle and liver problems.

DID YOU MISS IT?

Consume the missed dose as soon as you remember it. If you do not notice, then skip the missed dose and continue the dosing schedule. Do not take extra doses. Call your doctor if you have missed many doses.
