WHAT DOES IT TREAT?

CALFIT is used to fulfill calcium needs during pregnancy, lactation and post menopausal stages in women. It also treats:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Rickets
  • Hypoparathyroidism
  • Certain muscle disease

MODE OF ACTION

Calcium citrate is the main component of CALFIT. It is used in the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency problems.
Magnesium in this medication ensures proper growth and maintenance of bones. It also helps in the proper functioning of nerves, muscles and other body parts. In addition, magnesium neutralizes stomach acids and passes stools through the intestine.
The zinc elements ensures a healthy immune system, proper synthesize of DNA, healthy growth during childhood, and healing of wounds.
Vitamin D3 is a fat soluble sterol which has a significant role in the the regulation of calcium and phosphate homoeostasis and bone mineralisation.

HOW TO USE?

This medication is usually taken by mouth before or after your food. The dosage depends on the condition of the patient.

A serious allergy to CALFIT is rare. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to vitamin D. Seek medical advice if you develop any of the following symptoms:

  • Swelling of the face/tongue/threat
  • Severe dizziness
  • Breathing problems

Do not use CALFIT if you have high calcium/vitamin D levels or malabsorption syndrome Report to your doctor if you have the following medical history Heart/blood vessel disease, Kidney stones, Immune system disorders, Liver or bowel diseases, Low levels of bile and Phosphate imbalanc

KEEP IN MIND

Products like digoxin and phosphate binders may interact with CALFIT.
Do not use medications containing calcitriol while using CALFIT.
This medication may cause false results for certain laboratory tests like cholesterol tests.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

The missed dose is to be taken as soon as you notice it. Else, you could skip it and resume the dosing schedule without taking extra doses to make up for the missed one.

DID YOU MISS IT?

Missing a dose is not a cause for concern. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. You could otherwise skip it. Overdosage is not an option to catch up.
